|
|
Keen to hear people's view on these strips - I understand quite a few SZ have their C-pillar rusted out (bottom) due to water leaking into the joint under the plastic strips. Has anyone ever thought about just removing the strips and install a tidy rubber compound joint?
I need to make that decision soon because I removed all the old plastic strips and am priming/preparing the joints for a new sealant with or without the strips.
Also would be keen to hear if anyone wants these strips remade because I can get them from Italy (made to order), from Cicognani. Note I alos have ordered my door rubbers there (those with the velvet finish) at a relatively good price. _________________ lancia fulvia zagato 1600 - 72

I have never seen rusty c-pillars on a SZ, but I will check mine today. |

Well, maybe you are lucky? I only know a few SZ owners but know 2 already who had the same problem....I am now actually going ahead without these strips and make a very tidy joint with sikaflex. Mainly because I want to avoid future problems with water getting in.... _________________ lancia fulvia zagato 1600 - 72

Sure, I expect the car back on Saturday afternoon, with the joints all nicely sealed. Had it done by a professional boat builder so it should be pretty tidy. It was a tough call because I like to keep the car original....but after weighing up all the pros and cons....the sikaflex joint won I hope I made the right decision Well, it can always be reversed of course
So if I have pictures...what do I do with them - can I upload here? Sorry, pretty new to the forum so may be asking a dumb question _________________ lancia fulvia zagato 1600 - 72
