...on the floor mats?
Any ideas why there is oil/grease dripping on my floor mats, appears to be coming from the steering rack, out of the plastic surround?
I'm guessing the grease is old and has separated

First thing that comes to mind is the grease of the steering column (there is some on the sliding part with the splines)
Maybe the high temperatures of the last weeks made it a little too 'soft' ?
Removal of the plastic surrounding will make things clear I guess.
As far as I know there are no other greasy things in that area (beside the copper 'contact ring' for the horn button which is slightly greased as I remind well)
Good luck,regards,fRank _________________ SZ No. 044 |

Definitely oil or grease....it can be seen inside the column.
I'm pretty convinced it's just the grease has got old and turned to oil, then dripped out.
But need to look at it all in more detail anyway, as there is some play in the steering

Sounds like steering rack?
Is a known problem with 75 and SZ's.
If it not too bad, you can live with it. Else change the steering rack, but that is not cheap and is a lot of work. |
