Just been looking at the Squadra chip for SZ/RZ, reasonable price for respectable gains.

Is this chip also sold by "Alfissimo"...I ask this because they do not list their chip as Squadra but have used the Squadra graphs!

Also, the price is £200gbp instead of £250gbp Confused

Does anyone have the Squadra chip fitted, is it worth doing, did you feel much difference?

I often been tempted by the squadra chip, but then end up finding something else to spend the money on!

Have you located an SZ yet?

Hi Philip...the Squadra chip certainly looks like good value for the money.

Yes, I've found one but not seen it yet. You may have gathered from the "other" forum where it is, so just nipping round is not easy Laughing

I'm keeping it under wraps for now, but hoping to have it sorted in about a month.

I'm obviously not as update as I should be, because i have no idea where it is! Not the UK I assume?

It's interesting that when I bought mine 4 years ago there were several SZ's for sale but recently there are don't seem to be so many about....

Yes, the supply has dried up a little...although several have gone to Europe recently.

I know of this one for sale and a possible second, but neither have been advertised yet afaik.

Nearly everyone in the Netherlands use the chip now.
It a big step forward.

-1. Better engine run in iddle an lower revs.
-2. Better pick up from lower revs (so no more engine stall in from of a stoplight)
-3. Less shaky engine in iddle run.
-4. Noticable more middle revs power
-5. Bitt more piek power

I really wouldn't know...
But you can put in the Squadra chip in yourself.

I bought an extra Alfa 75 QV Motronic and put the chip in there.

Then changed the whole Motronic, so the original stays closed.

Squadra give you a manual.

the squadrachip is very good!
i got 10 messured hp extra and a much crispier engine
the installation is very easy to do yourself.
and don't forget to change your first exhaust muffler into one that is a bit more "open".
it will change the heat in the car substantually and gives you an increase in performance

Last week I removed the cat. and mid muffler and replaced them with a piece of steel tube. Nothing else there except for the end muffler. Twisted Evil
I can agree with rz, there is allready a noticable increase in power, not only in lower revs but there is also a little kick in the b.tt @ approx. 5000 rpm which wasn't there before, nice! Cool
Sound is a little bit more mature; kind of darker when running idle and more 'Busso worthy' when revving up Wink . Around approx. 4500 rpm there is a mean yell coming in, bit like the good old gtv6 2.5 use to have... Cool
Not that loud that people will stop and stare off course (at least it's no honda civic with 6 tailpipes... Laughing Laughing )

Haven't driven that far yet to discover the heat reduction in the interior but I remember last year's trip to Milan as a hot one...
Another benefit is the weight reduction, my guess is that the cat. with mid silencer weight up to 15 kg's!

Maybe I will install a Squadra chip later this year.

Best regards,fRank

Thanks for your feedback Frank, very interesting.

I did a decat on my 155 Q4 just by using some stainless tube and two massive exhaust clamps...works brilliantly and only cost around £40!

Might look at doing the same....don't think the SZ needs a cat for the UK emissions test. Cool

Same here. I had a 75 turbo exhaust in stock, with the mid silencer replaced by steel tubing.
Only small adjustments had to be made to make it fit.

In Holland, pre 1993 cars do not have to pass the so called '4-gastest' when theire up for MOT (called APK over here). So no cat. needed to make the emission targets... Whistle

On my ex-156 v6 3.0 24v I removed the cat. but there was no noticeable gain in power. (had , with a squadra chip, 246 hp, more than enough on the frontwheels... Twisted Evil )

Best regards,fRank

Great feedback Frank. Unfortunately here in Switzerland I need a cat so don't think I'll be making the changes to my car.

If you have the time and space, why not make the cat. refitable? If you weld flanges on both end of the exhaust and cat. you can mount or demount it with a gasket and a few bolts and nuts.
It's only a little work (half an hour?) once a year. Maybe you can combine this when the car is allready in the workshop for annual maintainance? Idea

I know there are a lot of guys here in Holland who do this every year. (with their daily 156 or other more modern car which needs the cat. for the MOT emission b.s.)

At least I would do it (if necessary), so little work and so many benefits... Cool

Best regards,fRank
