Philip,

I also wanted the rears to stick out a bit more (this was long before I went the 18'' route) and first tried using spacers.
This involved changing the rear studs to longer ones which also wrecked the bearings which were at least available at the time...

Not happy with just a 10mm increase I got Compomotive wheels to make me some 1'' larger rims for the original wheels...
this worked well but I would not want to go through dismantling and rebuilding the wheels again!!

Here is a photo of how it looked...

Regards,
zag

Thanks Zag - that's what i'm looking for!

If I understand correctly, Compomotive made the a wider outer rim to which you bolted the original wheel centre? Presumably this gives a deeper dish?

Yes, thats correct. The dish is an inch larger than standard.
Its a nightmare taking the wheels apart but well worth it when done.
Mine are now languishing unused in my garage....

Hi Marc.. more pictures of what?? (cars or teeth.. Smile )

Not really.. they are attached to my original wheels which of course I am going to keep and do not have the heart to put the original rims back on....

However, I had completely forgotten than I also had two other sets of two made, one is 2.5'' x 16'' and the other 2'' x 16'' (but this set is undrilled).
All brand new and unused.

I cannot remember what the orginal rear wheel dish measured, but will check tomorrow.

I might be selling my SZ in the Spring and if I do I will have tons of SZ stuff to sell.... many items are 'one-offs' or very rare.
If I do I will post a list here.

Regards,
zag

Took a look at my car this morning. Rear dish is 3 inches and front is 2 inches. Plenty of space to go up an inch on the rear, but i guess the front also?

Would it be possible to just have new rear rims made an extra inch wider and then put the old rear rims onto the front?

Hi Philip,

I think you will find that the front rims are 1.5'' and the rears 2.5''... you do not count the last 1/2'' as this is the bead that holds the tyres...
(an 8'' wheel actually measures 9'' rim edge to rim edge).

What you suggest would work, there is plenty of room both front and rear... I would suggest putting the rear wheel onto the front to get an idea of the look..

I never got around to fitting my larger front rims and from memory had both 1'' and 1/2'' extra made incase 1'' looked too big...

Regards
