Thats right, Harry. I found my one for a little cheaper.
But the rarest Matchbox is without doubt the Fenint version. |

Yes, if I didn't have one I would buy this one.
The have sold for over 100 euro's, but that was a couple of years ago.
The Fenint is rare and expensive, I still need one. But it is not special enough to command those high prices I think.
The blue Eagles SZ is very rare in Europe. Extra problem is that this one if wanted by SZ collectors but also by those football-fans... |

Crazy
I saw the green one on ebay a couple of weeks ago...it says "mint" but looks damaged to me. If it wasn't damaged I would have it, but not in that condition
There was a Fenint for sale around Christmas I think, in the US...I passed on that too

I paid 5 euros for mine at an auto-jumble about 10 years ago. I thought that was way over priced back then |

I bought my SZ fenint a few years ago for I think 8 or 10 Euro's on the bay.
Didn't know they sold for these amounts (or at least asking prices).
Does anybody know the story behind the fenint models ?
I thought fenint is a pharmaceutical company but I'm not sure.
greetings,

I once spoke with a 'world authority' (??) on Matchbox models who told
me the following regarding the Fenint model....
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the picture.
I have not seen this one before, and as always in such cases of hitherto unknown promotionals I have to assume
it was made without authorization from Matchbox, unless somebody proves otherwise.
There are very many similar cases, as before the Mattel era with its assortment policy anybody could purchase any
quantity of any model and put any additional custom decoration on it privately.
As it is therefore regarded as a so-called "Code 3" model (i.e. unauthorized), it does not belong in a Matchbox collection.
At least I would not put it in mine. That is, if I found one cheaply (which is unlikely to happen), I would put it in my Code 3
box just in case any proof of it being a genuine Matchbox issue ever came forward.
Best wishes
Christian Falkensteiner

lol!
I'd still like one in any box or code though, but I'll pay max 40/50 euro's for a Matchbox.
And how about those silver and gold Matchbox SZ's? Just someone trying to make a couple of bucks?
They are not on my list, because I think they are code 4 of maybe even code 5. Whatever that means. |

Okay, very cool collection!
You are missing the black Makeup LSJ?
That Fenint is cool with the original box.
And do you have the Footy cars box too?
lol@white box that says "Alpha Romeo"!
That can't be original?
And you've got 2 different PM models boxes? I thought they only had one SZ kit. Are they different? |

Yes, I missing the black one but I will found it one day.
As you can see, I have two Footy cars, with and without box.
The SZ on the white box with Alpha Romeo is original, it was send for promotion to dealers and shops.
When you look in the US, strange enough, some people write it as Alpha, I don't know why.
The two PM models are the same, there is only one version. But they sold it with different label colours.
The two models left on the front are preproduction models, still unpainted and the bottom is still unnailed, I found a body and a complete model as you can see. Also very rare. |
