Why should I buy one? |
Driveabilety at bottom revs is much much better.
Where the standard chip now and than stalled the engine at slow traficlight pullups, the SQUADRA chipped car never stalled (clutch up at 1250-1500 rpm). The engine starts even better en idles smoother. Also it gifs just a little more bite at top revs (7000 rpms). It might have more torgue at medium revs (cannot say for sure). _________________ SZ: #150 |

Hello Roy
Yes, I'm currently running the SZ with the 164's ECU 0261200117, and according to the Squadra homepage, this ECU + Squadra chip give less horsepower than the SZ (or 75) ECU + Squadra chip, 201hp vs 225 hp at 6000 rpm, that's a big difference, so I'm still need your help to find the SZ or 75 QV's ECU.
Thank You! |

Hello Roy and Robin
Days ago, I take apart the passenger door's interior trim to have some work behind it, and at the inside of the door's panel, there is a number "812" on it, although my chassis number is ZAR.......835, but I think this "812" handwritten number may correspond to my SZ production number, and was written by the mechanic when the car was assembled.
ps: I don't know how to post a picture, for better understanding |

156 R,
Thats the question....
Because the 164's ECU 0261200117 + 164 Squadra chip gives 201hp
And
SZ or 75 QV ECU + SZ Squadra chip gives 225hp.
But What about the 164's ECU 0261200117 + SZ Squadra chip and the SZ engine (which is also different of the 164 engine)??
This might do the trick in you car if both Monotronics are the same exept for the chip.. Please contact Stephan Lenoir of Squadra tuning by e-mail. I'm sure he want to help.
I'm willing to ship the second hand Belgium ECU to you. _________________ SZ: #150 |

Hello 156r,
according to the register of Eduard van de Beek, I saw you also entered your car recently, the buildnumber 812 is from the Japanese car with chassisnumber ..3000841.
I do not have additional info on this car.
It could however be that the numbers are mixed up and that yours is 812.
I propose for you to write Eduard an email with the numbers and possibly a photo. He knows almost everything from first hand experience with these cars and also the working methods employed at Zagato.
greets,
Robin. |

I've contact Stephan by e-mail regarding 164's ECU 0261200117 + SZ Squadra chip and the SZ engine, but an automatic returned e-mail says that he is busy on the Spettacollo Sportivo Alfa Romeo at Assen during these days, and are not able to answer me till monday, september the 1st.
I will keep you informed once I have an answer. |

Finally, I bought the Squadra's SZ chip from Stephan(very nice person).
I have told to Stephan about my condition, and he says that the 164's ECU is very different from the 75 QV's ECU.
Luckily, my friend lend me his spare 75 QV's ECU, I put it on the SZ, and it runs much much better than with the 164's ECU in all the rpm.
And after running for 2 months with the 75 QV's ECU, now I bought a Squadra chip to improve the car's performance. |

Just transferred to the bank.
Please keep us informed. I'm very curious about your car with the "new" ECU and the squadra chip.

First, thanks to Roy and Yuri (from Spykercars), now I got my own ECU.
The ECU comes from 75 QV, and the chip software is 1267356097, the same one for SZ, I put it on my SZ, and the car now goes much smoother than with 164's ECU in all rpm. Prior to this the car had a little vibration at idle, and now it dissapears, the rpm goes up more quickly and smoothly, the engine responds faster to the throttle, and there is more clean smell in the exhaust gas (better combustion, I think). I'm so happy now
Thanks for the help!! |
