I use the oil-filter that the Alfa dealer puts on it.
But it is a little bit smaller than the first oil-filter that was on the car.
The first time they had to remove water-lines and the air-filter to change the filter!
I think I have the same as on the Alfa 75 V6. I can check next week, because I am having the oil+filter changed. |

Simon,
I was busy with my cars in the garage, so I checked the oil-filter.
It is black and has part-number 46805831. It is an original Alfa Romeo part, I think. |

btw : You should know that this is a 4-cilinder oil-filter. That's the reason it is a little smaller I think.
For me it is not a problem, because I change oil every year, so about every 5.000km's. |

Hi Simon,
do you have the link for the Homepage of Eduard? I am asking because he has the information on his page.
Best regards
Michel |

The 46805831 is not the original filter as far as I know, but is used on many other Alfa Romeo's, like all Nord-engined cars. Giulia/Bertone etc etc.
I would simply use this one.
Don't use Fram-filters, because they are very cheaply made and can send parts into your engine. They look good (especially on Ferrari's), but don't work good.
Do a search on Ferrarichat or google for stories on Fram-filters. |

I picked up my oil filter this week.
Part number 71736160. The same as recommended on Eduards site. |

@Simon : did you change the oil yourself?
I will do this soon and also for the first time.
Normally this is an easy job, but the oil-filter is very difficult to get to. Did you remove the air-box?
The parts-number you mention is the new number for the original 46805831 oil-filter, so it will probably be the same. Same filter is also used on the Alfa nord (4 cilindre) engines. |

Hi Harry
No, I didn't do the change myself.
I got an official invitation to do the emissions test, so I let the local garage also change the oil at the same time. |

Okay, I did it myself last weekend!
The oil-filter is the only problem, but I could remove mine with my own hands. If they put it on too tight it can be a real problem to get it out. |

All,
Don't know if you get FRAM parts in Europe, but the XG3614 is a synthetic oil filter that is roughly the same size as Alfa/Lancia OEM

Maybe these synthetic FRAM-filters are better, but the standard filters are notorious. |
