I think my SZ Tachometer dosen't works correctly, when I deep press the gas pedal, the needle climbs slowly, not coincide with the engine sound, my mechanic tell me that somethig is wrong.
So where could be the problem, and, for reference, how much rpm do you have when cruising at 100 and 120KM/hr? Thanks! |

Hello,
Are you in 5th gear then?
At 100km/u you should be in 3rd or 4th gear to have nice acceleration.
Don't think that the car will shoot forward in 5th gear at 100 km/u.
p.s. I read you post again. You think that your engine revs more then the gauge shows? Is it in any gear?
It should have a rev-limiter at about 6500rpm (early cars can make more revs than later cars is the story), so if the engine is warm you can try that if you want to take that risk. |

Hello
Yes, the engine revs fast, but the gauge go very very slowly, even in 3rd or 4th gear. I've the wrong ECU on my SZ (one from the Alfa 164), so I dont know if this is the cause of the inaccurate tachometer. |

Hello
My SZ in 5th gear, at 100 km/hr, the gauge showed 2100 rpm, and at 120 km/hr, 2500rpm, is that normal? |

120 km/h is around 3250 rmp in my SZ. 145-150 at 4000 rpm looks ok. _________________ SZ: #150 |

That sounds okay.
But I noticed your speed-difference with the TomTom speed.
If I drive 120 km/u on the speedo, the TomTom says I am doing 123km/u!! So it actually goes faster than the speedometer tells me.
Very good to know in Gatso-Holland... |
