Thanks for your feedback Frank, very interesting.

I did a decat on my 155 Q4 just by using some stainless tube and two massive exhaust clamps...works brilliantly and only cost around £40!

Might look at doing the same....don't think the SZ needs a cat for the UK emissions test. Cool

Might be age related (not sure), but my 1991 car doesn't have a cat and it's not a problem at MOT time.

No it's not. When driving at a constant speed that is...
While accelerating the amount of noise depends on your right foot... Laughing

Serious; I think it is not that much louder than it used to be while driving. Most of the cabin noise comes from the air blowing around the A-pillar and rearview mirrors, the noise your tires make (the type of road!) and the usual rumble from the driving axle/gearbox. So in a way 'you replace noise by better noise...' Whistle
Good luck explaining that to Mrs. wrinx... Laughing

This afternoon I passed a few friends in their cars with 044 on full throttle while speeding up on the motorway> on the outside the difference in soundtrack is really recognizable as I understood later.. Twisted Evil

Best regards,fRank
Ps Harry; thanks, you should go for it too! Wink

@Frank : did you use Alfa 75 exhaust tubes or some specially made pipes?
How much did they cost and where did you get them?

Hi Harry,
I had an 75 turbo exhaust in stock. The mid silencer was replaced by a straight trough steel tube.
We cut the original sz exhaust in the part just before the cat. an removed it together with the midsilencer.

Then replaced the turbo tube from back to front ('clamp' connection on to the endmuffler is similar in diameter)
The turbo tube is longer because it originally has it's connection to the downpipe on the left side of the 4 cil. engine off course.
So some addional cutting and welding had to be done to make the tube fit to the original v6 tube.

To be honest, for me this is an 'el cheapo' Wink solution. In future I want to do some upgrading to the engine which may involve another (inox) custom made exhaust system too.
Therefore I chose to use an old tube as a temporary replacement.

I think that the 75 v6 exhaust will fit even better than a turbo tube, maybe the CSC midsilencer replacement tube for the 75v6 is a good alternative if you a more defenite solution?
Last year I had an 75 america with csc system, did sound great even with the cat. in place!

Best regards,fRank
