Anyone using a waterproof cover for their precious SZ? I need to use one when the car is out of the garage because I'm working on another car (mine are stored "one up, one down" on a ramp), it was ok in Summer but now Winter's here I'm stuck and don't want to leave the SZ outside in the rain for hours!
Any recommendations?

Yes... Don't!!
I know of two SZ's, one here and one in Japan who's owners used covers
and both needed resprays within a few months of use....
Even if the cover is 100% waterproof the car will 'sweat' and you
will have more blisters than the singing detective...
Better to find a friend or relative who will loan you their garage for a while.

I am using a Carcoon for indoor storage in my rather moisty/unheated barn. (to full satisfaction btw)
There is a special outdoor carcoon as well, with double 'insulating' layers and made of UV protecting cloth for long term use outdoor.
If you are going too store the plastic fantastic outdoors, this is the solution you want I guess.
Other (non vented) covers will keep moist hidden under resulting in more and more blisters, as mentioned above.
Cheapest way indeed is to ask a friend for a temporary few M2 in his barn...

I agree with Zag. I used an outside cover on a Lancia Fulvia for only a month or so and you could see the flat paint where the car had sweated under the cover. It didn't need a respray but did need some serious professional paint correction.
I will never use one again. Ask a friend, relative or your mechanic if they know of a covered space you can rent or use short term. |

The use of a cover will only be for a few hours and then it's uncovered...so it won't be under there for long, surely better than letting it get thoroughly soaked and then putting it back in the garage?

| For a few hours I probably wouldn't worry about throwing something over the car if the weather was bad. But only for short periods. |

That is too funny... perhaps you could also leave out a tray of vol au vents for anyone who passes..
