They are not made better than the UK wheels and it is a lie for you to say so...

Hey guys,

Please leave this out of this forum and email eachother about these problems.

If mistakes have been made I am sure, it can be worked out in a normal way. We are all enthusiasts and I cannot imagine that someone would try to disadvantage others on purpose.

Please use the forum for the good stories and experiences.
Thanks guys and I hope this will work out fine.

Just like in other walks of life Harry there are scumbags in the SZ community.
I know you have been warned about this guy by others and yet choose to do nothing about it.

Surely the point of a forum is to share experiences, give others help and advise and where necessary warnings.

You can always talk to me via PM's

Regards,
zag

Even the quietest forums have some drama.

Well about 18 months after I started this thread I finally have the wheels I desire Very Happy

However it's a long story....

Last summer I investigated having some wider rims made up, was put off by the cost and settled on some 25mm spacers for the rear wheels and was actually reasonably happy with that - so the car looked similar to Zag's picture at the top of page 2.

However in September I had a 'minor' Embarassed incident with a damp road and a kerb which meant I need to get 2 outer rims made as the damage was beyond repair. Completely unconnected the alternator packed up and so I left the car in the garage over the winter whilst pondering what to do....

Earlier this year I decided I had to once and for all get my wheels sorted.... So a big thank you to Zag who gave me lots of advice and pointed me in the direction of someone who could make some rims for me and a very big thanks indeed to Alfa Aid who sorted it all out for me and spent a load of time getting the look absolutely right. I now have the look I wanted all along - Original 16 inch wheels that completely fill the arches Cool

The front wheels are an inch wider and the rears 1/2 an inch, plus I have my spacers on! A fair bit of work was required on the rear arches to stop any contact but it now all works perfectly. It drives really nice too Very Happy

I've also taken a bit of time to smarten the engine bay up a bit, painting my plenum and cam covers and replacing some of the hoses with stainless steel braided ones. From this:

to this:

I haven't really driven the car for the last 6 months and even had dark thoughts about selling it for something more sensible like an Elise, but I'm glad I didn't and now have the car just as I want it (for now anyway....)

Your car looks really good Philip, a perfect stance!!

What colour did you use on the engine parts, it looks perfect?

Thanks Gents Smile

Steve, the paint is VHT Wrinkle Paint. I bought it from ebay from these guys:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-VHT-BLACK-WRINKLE-FINISH-SPRAY-PAINT-SP201-/280874553234?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41656d8f92#ht_1212wt_1165

Ideally it needs to go in the oven after painting to cure and produce the wrinkles. I could only get the Plenum to fit in the oven and had to leave the cam covers to cure in the sun (remember those 2 weeks back in March!)
