So how are they handling?
I need new rubber on my car. All 4 P Zero Corsa have been on the car for 5 years, but I checked the date and they are actually 10 years old. I drove home from work yesterday in a down pour and was probably one of the slowest cars on the road.
I don't really like the look of the Pirelli P7 and haven't read any rave revues about them. I've had Bridgestone Potenza SO2 and SO3 on my 328 for the last 10 years and I love them, they handle really well in wet or dry and they look good as well so I'm tempted to get them for the SZ as well.
Please let me know what you guys think "do buy these" or "definitely don't buy these"
I'm looking for standard sizes
205/55/16
225/50/16
Cheers

Still impressed with the Toyos, I've driven the SZ for long distances to events when it's been pouring with rain on two occasions now...never felt twitchy at all.
I've also tried to gently provoke the rear in damp condition but it's held.
Thumbs up from me...but no idea how long they'll last.

You clearly weren't trying hard enough
More seriously I've had Toyo's on my car for the last 6 years and am pretty happy with them. Having said that they are all i've ever had on the car so nothing to actually make a direct comparison with. |

They look about right, think I even paid about the same for the rears.

My hunt for new tyres continues. Can't locate Toyos in the correct size. I've narrowed my choice down to
Pirelli P7 Cinturato
Bridgestone Potenza RE-050
Dunlop Sport
Michelin Pilot Sport 3
All asymmetric, front and rear.
Anyone got anything bad to say about any of the above? |

Which tyres did you go for in the end and how do you find them?

Still haven't ordered any
Long story short, I'd basically decided on the Pirellis but after some more research decided they weren't a good choice for a sports car.
The car is now in the garage behind a 50cm bank of snow so the whole thing has been postponed till early spring. We live quite high so winter is a bit longer but I do have a great mountain road to drive to and from work everyday.
I found some beautiful Michelin classics but the price was 3X that of standard tyres.
Still open to recommendations. Dunlop Sport and Michelin Pilot are looking favourites. |

Allthough the restoration of my RZ hasn't reached the point yet that I can order the tyres, I am looking into it, so I know what I want when I get there. Hopefully somewhere this year.
The tyres I am consedering:
Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, favorite so far.
Dunlop Sport Maxx TT.
Bridgestone Potenza S-02
Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110
Or Pirelli P ZERO Asimmertico aft, and P ZERO Direzionale front
Which are the Michelins you are referring to? Several sport models available... But not all in both sizes, and the ones that are, I'm not sure about...
Also, I am looking for good tyres, but I am not planning to thrash the car on the track, so no extreme g-forces. It's a RZ afterall, not a SZ...
So please comments, suggestions and experiences... _________________ 1993 Alfa Romeo RZ (Project) |

@Simon
P7 Cinturato are lovely on my Giulietta, but it's the OEM tyre so they are developed together with the car. They have a strong reputation as a good road tyre with reasonable grip and comfort. Sensible choice for touring but there's more to go for in case of frequent fast road use.
T1R is a good all around tyre quite same league as P7. Never used in real sportscars.
Some Michelin Pilot Sport are supersoft as semislicks so don't go for them unless you're planning lots of trackdays _________________ Alfa lover |

Those tyres are hard (maybe even impossible) to find in original size. I always bought the P Zero Nero's. A little bit easier to find in these sizes.
I like P Zero's on an SZ (or RZ), even if they are more expensive. |

@Yuri, are you really mixing asymetric and directional tyres on your SZ?
My understanding was to only mix on mid engined cars. Front engined cars should have the same all round.
@Dreaming
Cinturato might be an option, one reviews suggested only average breaking performance.
Still haven't ordered mine yet. Need to very soon.
Options now are
Pilot EXALTO PE2
SP SPORT 01
possibly
Cinturato P7 |

To be honest I'm basically decided on the Michelins Pilots. Just need to order for spring. |

I listed it as a possibility. But the truth is, I am not a Pirelli fan, so chances of deciding on them are slim.
Probably going for either Michelins, Bridgestones or Dunlops.
I hear and read good things about the Toyo's, but I think the profile of them look horrible. _________________ 1993 Alfa Romeo RZ (Project) |
