New owner with a few tech questions for those with more experience of the model...hope you can advise please?
Steering - I have a "dead zone" in the middle, not looked at it properly yet, but I understand some SZs had problems with the steering when new, is this correct and is there a known fix?
Suspension - the rear suspension on on side is creaking, any tips or likely problem?
Engine temp - mine is running at about the middle of the 60-90, so around 75deg? I would normally say this is low but is it normal for an SZ to read this, or do I need a new thermostat?
There's a few other jobs I want to do...such as replace the interior switches and fit a Squadra chip...but they can wait a while

It appears there's a known issue with the steering rack, I'll look into it

Mine is running at ~1000rpm's also.
I think they run a little bit better with a little bit more revs.
The temp should be a little higher, but it is cold right now (over here ), so maybe it is possible.
When you park the car after a drive and keep the engine running, does it get any hotter than 75?
Mine goes up to ~90 and then the fan kicks in. |

For the suspension check Ed's website.
Last link in my Links-section.
He's got a tech-tip for it.
But I had a squeek also, but that was from the jack in the boot that moved sometimes during cornering. So check it is still in place. Sometimes it is that simple. |

Yes, mine does too, just felt the reading was a bit too low when cruising.
Could just be the gauge I guess...

About the vague steering:
Check also the big nut of the steering rack under the dash. Sometimes it loosen up a bit making the steering a bit vague.
It shouldn't be too tight, just enough to ensure play free steering.
The joint of the rack, connecting the hub, are still ok?
