19/04/13
- It's been a while since the last update, primarily because the
UK weather has been appalling recently! However, my SZ sailed
through the MOT (roadworthiness test) without a problem, the tester
even commenting on the excellent condition...which is nice.
But, one area
I thought might cause a problem is the rear brakes. The warning
light has been on for some time, although the car's only covered
12k and there appears to be sufficient pad material left; the
must be ready for replacement. My plan is to refurbish the brakes
to ensure they're not binding and causing excessive wear...which
starts with the usual hunt for rear
brake disks. They are very hard to find at a reasonable price.
Luckily, I
found a pair of brand new old stock discs on eBay for £130
delivered (from Italy)...very happy!

20/04/13 - Tackling
the soggy, crumbling and incredibly sticky underbonnet
foam commenced the day before attending Spring Alfa Day. It
was a matter of necessity to stop the stuff falling all over the
engine, what a mess! |
|
21/04/13 - Spring
Alfa Day at Gawsworth Hall,
Macclesfield. |
|
25/05/13 - BRSCC
Alfa Romeo racing at Oulton Park. Great to see some Alfas racing
again, by far the best series on the day and a busy starting grid! |
|
|
24/06/13 - Hope
Motor Show. The Derbyshire Section of AROC represented the marque
at this well known show in Derbyshire, in amongst a wide variety
of other classic machinery. Well worth a visit if you've never been,
it attracts hundreds of cars and thousands of visitors every year. |
|
07/0713 - Back to a regular event at Stanford Hall,
although it's now called "Summertime Classics" instead
of Auto Italia Day. It's still organised by Auto Italia magazine
but has been opened up to all classics, not just the Italian kind.
My SZ surrounded by Giulia 105s....

|
04/08/13 - Mallory
Park. This was a combined event, consisting of the Classic Touring
Car race series and an AROC-uk event. A few of the AROC members
managed to get on track for a little drive around, good fun! |
|
06/08/13 - Replaced
rear brake pads,
one was down to the metal! Thankfully everything went well and nothing
was seized, but access is not great and rolling around on the floor
isn't fun either...sadly my ramp is full of 155 Q4 at present! |
|
11/08/13 - National
Alfa Day, Chatham Docks.
My car is just to the left of centre! |
|
18/08/13 - Midlands
Italian Car Day (MITCAR) - Hardwick
Hall. 300+ Italian cars of all varieties, here I'm parked with
the "exotic" Ferraris. |
